The Dawn of Creation
As it was nothing, so it was now everything - Rodozem came to be. The gods were born among the stars and each fell upon a different part of this vast world, knowing not what Rodozem is, just as this world did not know them. Each god descended upon Rodozem from this world’s starry dome, their impact sending ripples through its fabric. Land quaked under Perun’s footfalls, the air around him crackling with power. His voice thundered to be challenged, and Rodozem knew its first storm. The gods heard his call and one by one rallied to his side. For the first time, on wet earth under falling rain and thundering lightning, the Starborn were united. Radigost first rallied to Perun, and said unto Perun: “Thou art is the challenger and the challenge itself; the world will know no peace if war is the path thou chose to walk.” Svarog proclaimed of Creation, Perun will not be grander than him, but of Power he challenged not. Veles, a soul yearning for freedom and driven by wanderlust, sang to his brother Perun a vision of endless arcane inspiration, not of challenge, nor strife. Lada spoke of beauty in this unknown world, not of power nor challenge.
Stribog dreamt of adventure, to explore and find, not to bend nor destroy. Mokesha told visions of sacrifice and life from an otherworldly progenitor, and the gods knew the potential of this place. As to Devana, she remained in the forests, silent until a single word was uttered - balance. Perun decreed he shall not challenge, and instead proclaimed peace and protection unto all. Thus the thunder and crackles of lightning subsided, and thus was Rodozem’s first storm subdued. The gods knew the need to tame, tend and shepherd this lush and wild world, and that each was to find their purpose and duty in order to propel Rod’s sacrifice for Creation. Svarog took up mighty trees and bent them together to shape the first Great Hall of the Gods - the very first structure to ever be shaped upon Rodozem’s raw landscape.
This would become their heavenly home, where they could always find shelter, company and the warmth of likeminded souls. In truth, any that so wished to gain the Starborn’s protection and audience, were always welcome in their Hall. The Gods, now gathered by the one who united them - Perun, stood in the Great Hall for the very first time. The Thunderer invited Mokesha by his side, drawn by her infinite wisdom and soothing words, but most of all her deep dark eyes, bearing her endless mysteries. With a knowing smile, Mokesha thus accepted and sat by his side. In truth, there could be no other, for only Mokesha could humble the mighty Perun, the only one who could turn his thunderstorm into a lifebringing zephyr of rain. She would be the one to guide him through the ever-unfolding Song of Creation. That day something new and warm, exciting and eternal grew within them, within all Gods - the Starborn pantheon of Rodozem was born.
The Taming of the Spirit
Not all gods wished to stay too long in their Great Hall, for a wild and unexplored world awaited outside. Many of them, longing to be free, roamed the great world around them in an effort to appreciate and understand Rodozem. Thus, meeting the Primordial Spirits was inevitable, as they are an intrinsic part of this world. Moreover, what we now call the “Taming of Spirit” was an essential part of the mythical history of the Gods and the world.
Those were the first big labours of the pantheon and their formative experience as shepherds and keepers of balance. Had they not acted the way they did, the world would be a very different place right now. These are the legends that survived, of how the Starborn chose a path different from violence, in order to protect something greater than themselves. These are tales of fate and chance, great wisdom, empathy and grace
