Primordial Spirit of Water
It is said that after Rod’s Sacrifice, Lada’s star fell in the Great Ocean of Rodozem - an endless mass of pure liquid within which lay the Primordial Spirit of Water. Upon her impact with the Spirits’ domain, crashing waves erupted and rippled through the ocean, disturbing its peace. It is believed the rough seas and ceaseless leviathan waves battled the land of Rodozem for forty days and forty nights, fueled by the anger of the Great Spirit, for it felt wronged.
Lada’s pure heart was heavy with sadness and regret, for she did not choose to cause harm to the ocean nor the myriad creatures living within it. She sought out the Great Spirit within the endless depths of the Great Ocean of Rodozem, to ask its forgiveness and offer her deepest regret and most heartfelt condolence.
The Spirit allowed Lada to enter its domain and upon witnessing the goddess, it is said the seas calmed within an instant. Lada bowed her head and poured her heart into words swollen with pain and tears weighed by sorrow, for she did not wish to harm the great Spirit nor to disturb its ocean. Instead she pleaded love for every being, from the mightiest of Spirits before her, to the tiniest creature in its watery domain.
The Great Spirit’s heart filled with inexplicable sensation, it felt the pain lift away and love take its place. So deeply moved and enchanted by the goddess and her atonement, the Spirit of Water accepted her plea and offered forgiveness. But before Lada could acknowledge, the Spirit offered its heart, to be hers now and forever. The goddess, humbly honoured, offered the Spirit to become her Great Muse instead, and Lada its Muse in return. Cunningly, the Spirit of Water proposed a riddle: if Lada was to answer right, the Spirit would become her muse, eternally. If Lada answered wrong, she would agree to remain with the Spirit, in its domain, forever. Lada reflected upon the proposal and accepted the Spirit’s terms.
And so the Primordial Spirit of Water is said to have asked ‘What is the Age of Water?’. The goddess pondered and wondered what could it be, how could it be and what the riddle may mean. Within a moment, Lada’s eyes met the gaze of the Great Spirit and answered ‘the age of Water is now, in unison and harmony’. While it hoped and wished the goddess to be wrong, she had in fact answered right, and so the Spirit conceded and confessed the truth - the goddess had guessed the riddle. However, the Primordial Spirit was anything but a sore loser and proudly proclaimed itself Lada’s first and greatest Muse. Thus for the first time the young goddess of Love sang to her Eternal Muse - the Sea itself, and thus did Lada complete her great Labour, with love, harmony, and unity. In an act of awe and admiration, the Spirit flooded pits, now turned to lakes, and erupted rivers from the very soil, to gracefully marry the land with the sea.
